Three children sustained injuries when an explosive device they found in a field near their home in eastern Turkey exploded, the state-run Anatolia news agency reported on Wednesday.
The children were grazing livestock in a restricted military zone near their village of Celeni near Doğubayazıt when they found the explosive and began playing with it on Tuesday. One of the children was reported to be in serious condition. The type of explosive device was not clear. Dozens of children have been killed or maimed in similar incidents in Turkey's southeastern and eastern regions, where Turkish troops have been battling the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) since 1984.
